Dirt on Delight: Impulses That Form Clay
|
| January 15th-June 21st, 2009 |
| Clay appeals to basic impulses, starting with the delight of building form. "Dirt on Delight" presents significant work in clay by 22 artists spanning four generations: Ann Agee, Robert Arneson, Kathy Butterfly, Nicole Cherubini, Lucio Fontana, Viola Frey, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, Jane Irish, Jeffrey Mitchell, Ron Nagle, George Ohr, Ken Price, Sterling Ruby, Adrian Saxe, Beverly Semmes, Arlene Shechet, Rudolf Staffel, PAul Swenbeck, Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Reter Voulkos, Beatrice Wood, and Betty Woodman. Ranging to modestly sized pots to figurines to large sculptures, these objects cross a spectrum of conventional delineations between fine art, crafts, and outsider practices. "Dirt on Delight" travels to the Walker Art Center (July 11- November 29, 2009) |
